| Em 1994, duas escolas públicas de Nova York começaram a oferecer aulas de dança de salão. Em 2004, já eram 60 instituições de ensino com essa matéria no currículo. Ao final do curso, as escolas escolhem cinco pares de alunos para uma grande competição de dança de salão. O documentário acompanha, do início das aulas até o fim do campeonato, a trajetória dos alunos de três dessas instituições. Com média de 11 anos, os garotos e garotas, saindo da infância e entrando na adolescência, enfrentam seus limites em ritmo de tango, swing, rumba, merengue e foxtrote. In 1994 two state schools in New York began offering ballroom dancing classes. By 2004, there were 60 institutions with the discipline on their curriculum. At the end of the course the schools select 5 pairs of students to participate in a grand ballroom dancing contest. This documentary follows the course of students from 3 of these schools, from the start of the classes up to the end of the competition. The boys and girls, averaging 11 years old and on the verge of adolescence, are pushed to their limits to the rhythms of tango, swing, rumba, merengue and fox-trot. |
